As a music consumer, I have a very varied taste when it comes to genre (however discounting Jazz). Nowadays I usually tend to listen to old school RnB, Rap, chill music or dance music. I listen to music during any activity that involves moving around, thinking or eating (if the TV isn't available). So this could be either while doing homework, cooking, getting ready to go out or even walking to the newsagents. I tend to listen to the radio regularly, at least 3 times a week when at home doing my homework or tidying my room or on long car journeys. Music is a huge part of my life as I'm really into singing and am an avid member of my church choir.
Below are an analysis and reflections on 3 tracks taken from different times in my life.
Bad Boy Family-'You'
(Childhood)
I picked this song because my family used to listen to it as part of a gospel album CD every morning as we're getting ready to leave for church. So it reminds me of the smells of the Sunday lunches my mum would prepare in the morning, the sounds of someone having a shower and the happy memories of singing with my sisters as I do my morning chores. Nostalgia is one of the gratifications music provides for me and is a reason why I still listen to old songs I used to listen to or from decades ago.
'O Shenandoah'
(Early teens)
Sam Smith- 'Nirvana'
(Means a lot to me today)
